FORECAST
Performed at MovingArtsBase, and RichMix, as part of Free To Fall, programmed by Lee Smikle (2012).
"I had the privilege and pleasure to watch Scarlett Perdereau's 'Forecast', a structured improvisation around the language of the shipping forecast. The work was mesmerizing, whitty ,mature, sophisticated, and multi dimensional on all levels - conceptionally, compositionally, and dramaturgically. Perdereau revealed an ability to swiftly move through a broad range of movement patterns, and qualities, which at times elegantly wove into a poly-centric movement language which was counterpointed against well selected snippets of text. The textual fragments and collages based on shipping forecast news were at at times read by members of the audience. This surprising dramaturgical rendering added a light-hearted dimension to this delightful and complex, yet unpretentious piece. Perdereau has a rare ability to unleash a mature and unpredictable sense of imagination through highly skilled dance ability and sophisticated movement choices. Very impressive work by an inspiring dance artist." - Thomas Kampe |
